[MIC] Music in Communities Composition Fellowship

About the fellowship:

Our [MIC] Music in Communities Composition Fellowship is part of our commitment to playing and premiering new music as part of Teaching Artists International. We believe that music students—young and old—should know composers, understand and try composition themselves, and relate the names on the corner of the page to real humans!

During the day, an [MIC] Composition Fellow will work alongside the other TAI Fellows honing their teaching skills, collaborating with other fellows and students, and practicing their Spanish. At night, all fellows are absorbing the TAI curriculum which prepares the next generation of musicians with tools for the classroom, being a global citizen, and using one’s artistry for community development.

The launch of our [MIC] Composition Fellowship is our way of connecting that goal with our mission. We love Bach, and we love new music, too! We think it's important to keep expanding the canon to represent our diverse world today.

Benefits:

As part of this fellowship, [MIC] Composition Fellows have the opportunity to premiere an original composition internationally as part of our TAI Fellowship trips, travel internationally with a chamber group consisting of other TAI Fellows, and receive a 50% discount on the TAI Fellowship Tuition. Tuition covers all boarding, food, airport transportation, in-country transportation, tourist trips, and TAI Professional Development Workshops.

[MIC] Composition fellows also receive a high-quality recording of the international performance premiere, opportunities to demonstrate composition lessons/workshops of their design, engage and work with young composition students, a professional headshot, and have their work advertised on all Teaching Artists International platforms.

Program details: The [MIC] Music in Communities Composition Fellowship is open to applicants aged 18-35. We encourage women and minorities to apply.
